About the press

About Belonging Ground Press

Belonging Ground Press was founded by Mi'kmaq author Paula Sevestre from a simple idea: that belonging is shaped by the people, places, relationships, and experiences that connect us to one another and to the world around us.

Through fiction and non-fiction, Belonging Ground Press will publish stories that explore identity, connection, and the many ways we find—or create—a sense of belonging.

The press begins with Sevestre's own work, with a vision to grow thoughtfully over time.

The press

Belonging Ground Press is an independent, Indigenous-owned Canadian publisher built on the belief that stories can deepen our understanding of ourselves, one another, and the places and experiences that shape us.

Mi'kmaq author Paula Sevestre named the press to celebrate the people, places, relationships, and experiences that bring us together in a divided world.

Beginning with Sevestre's fiction and non-fiction and expanding over time to include other authors, Belonging Ground Press contributes to a growing Indigenous presence on the Canadian publishing landscape.
